Lake Tekapo and Mount John

First stop was Lake Tekapo a glacial lake - the amazing colours and the snow capped mountains in the back ground remind us of the Rockies. We’re certainly looking forward to further exploring the mountains and lakes of NZ. We did cheat and drive up Mount John instead of doing the 3 hour walk – the views were excellent, little did we know that the weather was about to turn very wet and this would be our last sighting of Mt Cook where we were headed the next day.

Lake Tekapo is also home to the Church of the Good Shepherd which is one of the photos you see a lot for NZ – managed to get a couple of shots without the hordes of tourists creeping in …. Patience is a virtue!
